Zion Tech Electrolytic Chlorination System (On site Hypo-Chlorite)

Electro Chlorination System
Zion tech Electro chlorination system is a unique onsite sodium hypochlorite generating system, An ideal convenient and cost effective solution for water disinfection by the means of chlorination. In this system chlorine(In the form of sodium hypochlorite) is generation is instantaneous and provides maximum safety to operators as the chlorine generation can be terminated by just switching of the power supply to the unit and there is no direct involvement of toxic chlorine gas.
It is an easy and proven technology to convert common salt (NaCl)by means electrolysis in to first grade Sodium Hypochlorite solution . It is always applied on site ,at the point of application. No harmful chemicals other than common salt is used throughout the process. A dilute brine solution(water + common salt) is fed to electrolyses cell and when a low voltage DC current is supplied , the process of electrolisation occurs and Sodium hypochlorite(NaOCl) is generated instantaneously .
Following Chemical reaction take place in electrolyser cell :
2NaCl + H2O = NaOCl + NaCl + H2 ↑
(Common Salt) (Water) (Sodium Hypochlorite) (Common Salt) (Hydrogen gas)
# Hydrogen gas released in the process is very low in amount and can easily be dispersed in the environment using a blower pump out of the plant in to the environment where it reacts with oxygen to make water.
Salient Features:
- Low operating cost ( as no chlorine tonners required)
- Safe to operate ( as operators don’t have to handle toxic Chlorine gas)
- Minimum installation space required.
- No formation of unwanted by products.
- Required only water, common salt and electricity.
- Safe for human life and environment.
- Less legal formalities for installation .
- It assure on site high concentration hypochlorite generation .
- There is no need for safety equipments.
- Automatic Acid cleaning system: Cleaning the electrolysis cell is very important for longer, trouble free and efficient working of the system. With our Automatic Acid cleaning system operator need to press a single button and our cleaning cycle will be completed, moreover it can be initiated from central control room also.
Zion Tech. is providing two types of Electro Chlorination systems
A. Batch Type: Batch type Electro Chlorination Systems
These are most suitable for small to medium requirements of chlorine. Batch systems, as the name suggests, produces chlorine ( in the form of NaOCl) in batches of 8 hours each. This chlorine (in the form of NaOCl) is stored in a tank and is dosed using dosing pumps. The whole process is repeated when the stored chlorine is used up.
by adding salt and water and switch on the power supply. The system automatically stops after producing required chlorine. Supplied with Reaction Tank fitted with the Titanium Electrolyzer and Power Supply Unit with Auto Timer Controls. Storage Tank and Dosing Pump are optional. res
Advantages of System:
- Its capacity starts from 5 g/ hr to 500 g/ hr.
- It is lower in cost than continuous systems.
- It is very compact in size.
- Titanium Electrolyser is fixed inside the Reaction tank.
- Reaction tank is made of Fiber Glass with Vinyl Ester Resin
- Tank is provided with salt measurement and filtering system
- Electronic timer for an accurate timings.
- Timer stops automatically during power failure and starts on power supply resumption, to maintain exact batch time.
- Eight hours batch time.
- The long-life Power supply.
- Power supply unit can take wide voltage fluctuations and frequency changes.
Area of applications
- Medium to large water treatment facilities for disinfection of drinking water
- Waste water, Effluent and Sewage treatment.
- Hotels, Hospitals, Educational institutions for Drinking water.
- Disinfection in Water parks, Cooling water circuits, Fire water storage, Ballast water treatment.
Batch type Electro chlorinator produces required chlorine in the form of Sodium Hypochlorite in 8 hours. For this salt and water solution (Brine) and switch on the DC power supply. The system automatically stops after producing required chlorine. Supplied with Reaction Tank fitted with the Titanium Electrolyzer and Power Supply Unit with Auto Timer Controls. Storage Tank and Dosing Pump are optional. To inject Gas Chlorine, Liquid Chlorine or Bleaching powder to disinfect water or waste water is a common practice all over the world. you do not have to face the problem of procuring and the hazard of storing of these chemicals. Our Electrochlorinator produces Liquid Chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite) from common salt as per your requirement. It is safe and cost saving. Zion Tech. Provides a variety of models depending on customer’s requirement.

B. Continuous type Electro Chlorination Systems :
Continuous Production Electrochlorinators – Brine based systems are designed for high capacity production of sodium hypochlorite solution from brine water. The system contains all the equipment required for continuous production of 0.6 to 0.8% Sodium Hypochlorite. Zion Tech. Provides a variety of models depending on customer’s requirement.
Continuous-type electrochlorination systems offer several advantages, particularly in the context of water treatment and disinfection. Here are some key benefits:
- Continuous Operation: As the name suggests, these systems operate continuously, ensuring a consistent supply of chlorine for water disinfection. This continuous process helps maintain a stable and effective level of disinfection over time.
- On-Demand Chlorine Production: Electrochlorination systems produce chlorine on-site as needed. This on-demand production eliminates the need for storing and handling hazardous chlorine gas or liquid chlorine, reducing safety risks associated with storage and transportation.
- Cost-Effective: Continuous electrochlorination systems can be cost-effective in the long run. While the initial setup costs may be higher than some other disinfection methods, the ongoing operational costs can be lower due to the efficiency of on-site chlorine generation.
- Safe and Environmentally Friendly: Electrochlorination systems typically use common salt (sodium chloride) as a feedstock to produce chlorine on-site. This eliminates the need for transporting and handling potentially hazardous chemicals, making the process safer for operators and reducing the environmental impact associated with chemical transportation.
- Consistent Chlorine Concentration: These systems can provide a consistent and controlled concentration of chlorine in the water, helping to ensure effective disinfection without the risk of underdosing or overdosing.
- Reduced Carbon Footprint: On-site electrochlorination reduces the carbon footprint associated with the transportation of chlorine gas or liquid chlorine. It also minimizes the environmental impact by eliminating the need for the production, packaging, and transportation of chlorine chemicals.
- Low Maintenance Requirements: Continuous electrochlorination systems are designed for durability and reliability. They often have low maintenance requirements, leading to reduced downtime and operational costs.
- Flexibility in Capacity: These systems can often be designed to meet varying capacity needs. The modular nature of some electrochlorination systems allows for scalability, making them adaptable to different water treatment demands.
- Automated Control: Many continuous electrochlorination systems come equipped with automated control systems. This automation helps in optimizing the chlorine production process, responding to changes in water quality or demand without constant manual intervention.
- Compliance with Regulations: Electrochlorination systems can be designed to meet regulatory requirements for water disinfection. The ability to control and monitor chlorine levels ensures that the system complies with health and safety standards.
